The Early Years program at LWIS Istanbul is founded on key principles regarding young children's learning and their home and community environments. Children in the Early Years come from diverse backgrounds with varied experiences. LWIS Istanbul provides learning experiences tailored to individual needs, interests, and developmental levels. Support is available for children with special learning needs to maximize their learning potential. Young children are naturally curious and eager to explore their surroundings. Interaction and cooperation with adults and peers enhance learning. Through structured activities, purposeful play, and exploration, the Early Years program helps children expand their knowledge, acquire new skills, and refine existing ones.

 Parental involvement is essential in a child’s development. LWIS Istanbul fosters a strong partnership between parents and teachers to support learning at home and in school, ensuring that home values and beliefs are acknowledged.

Development in the Early Years

Early Years children develop across multiple domains—social, physical, cognitive, creative, and emotional—which are interconnected and influence one another. This stage is marked by rapid cognitive growth, shaped by experiences in other developmental areas. LWIS Istanbul’s Early Years program offers learning experiences that support all aspects of development, recognizing that while children progress through similar stages, they do so at their own pace.

The LWIS Istanbul community consists of students, parents, teachers, staff, management, consultants, the Board of Trustees (LWIS Network BOT), and the surrounding community. Students elect a Student Council, while teachers and parents form a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). The BOT establishes an Advisory Council that includes Student Council and PTA representatives, school management, and distinguished educators from local and expat communities. LWIS Istanbul follows an open-door policy, valuing input from all stakeholders.
